Per person. You provide the name plus one identifier: last known address, date of birth, cell number, or another related detail (email, employer, vehicle, relative). No hit = full refund.

How much does skip tracing cost in California?

A Basic Locate is $95 per person when you provide the name plus one identifier (last known address, date of birth, cell number, or another related detail), with a full refund if there is no hit. A Limited-Info Locate (name plus city or county only) is $150, non-refundable, and returns the best 3 possible matches. A Diligence Declaration is $175. Case Maps for probate and multi-heir matters start at $600 for the first 4 names, then $150 for each additional name.

What happens if the person can't be found?

No hit, no charge: you get a full refund on the Basic Locate. The report comes back Unable to Locate (UTL). If you need to ask the court for service by publication, you can order a Diligence Declaration documenting what we searched.

Do you run names I didn't ask for?

No. New names that turn up during a search — such as relatives of a deceased heir — are only run as Additional Heirs with your written approval.

Can you serve the papers after you find the person?

Yes. ProServer CA is a registered process server. Once we verify an address, we can serve and provide a court-ready proof of service.

Is skip tracing legal?

Yes, when done for a permissible purpose. We run searches only for active, filed court cases (case number required), such as locating a party for service of process, in accordance with applicable California and federal law.

If we can’t confirm a single match or find no current address, you get a full refund of the Basic Locate fee. Basic Locates require at least one identifier besides the name. Limited-Info Locates ($150, name plus city or county only) are non-refundable; we report the best 3 possible matches, ranked. Addresses are verified as of the date we search; if the person moves after we report an address, that is still a completed locate. Skip tracing is conducted only for permissible purposes related to active, filed legal proceedings; a case number is required. ProServer CA does not provide legal advice. Field attempts, stakeouts, and asset searches are not included in locate pricing.
