Document Review Before We Serve

Most process servers just take your papers and attempt service. We look first.

On any order, you can add an optional Pre-Submission Document Review. Before we serve, we check your documents for common, observable problems — blank fields, missing signatures, inconsistent dates, mismatched party names — the kind of errors that lead to rejected filings, defective service, and wasted time and money.

When you're serving a business entity, we also verify the registered agent and address against the current California Secretary of State record, so your papers go to the right place.

You receive a short, plain-language list of anything we observe — so you can fix it before service, not after a rejection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard process serving in Bakersfield and Kern County is typically completed within 3–7 business days. Rush service is completed within 24 hours. Same-day service is available when contacted by late morning. Every attempt is GPS-documented and timestamped.

Refusal does not prevent valid service. Under California law, if Brad identifies the person being served and they refuse to accept the documents, service is complete when the documents are left in their presence. CCP §415.10 does not require the recipient to physically accept the papers.

ProServer CA makes a minimum of four attempts at varying times of day — including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Most competitors make three. After four documented attempts, Brad prepares a Declaration of Non-Service for substituted service, posting, or skip tracing depending on circumstances.

A Proof of Service (POS) is a sworn legal document signed by the process server attesting to the facts of service — who was served, when, where, how, and the server’s credentials. ProServer CA delivers a completed, court-ready POS by email immediately after service is confirmed. Notarized POS available on request.

Skip tracing is the process of locating a person whose current address is unknown or stale. You need a skip trace when mail comes back undeliverable, neighbors confirm the person no longer lives there, or multiple attempts at an address produce no contact. Brad uses professional investigative databases — not consumer people-search websites — to produce a verified current location. Basic skip trace starts at $85, with comprehensive and rush options available.

Substituted service under CCP §415.20 allows documents to be left with a competent adult at the recipient’s home or workplace, followed by first-class mailing. It is fully valid under California law when personal service cannot be accomplished after reasonable diligence. Brad documents every prior attempt with GPS data and timestamps to ensure the diligence record is airtight if challenged.

Unlawful detainer (eviction) cases operate on tight statutory timelines measured in court days, not calendar days. Three-day notices, 30-day notices, and 60-day notices must be served in strict compliance with CCP §1161 and §1162 or the timeline resets.
